Laura acts for claimants and defendants and specialises in clinical negligence, professional negligence and other insurance related claims, personal injury (including catastrophic and brain injury claims), public (especially relating to prison and detention issues) and police law.
Laura is recommended in the current editions of Chambers & Partners in the fields of personal injury, clinical negligence and police law, and in The Legal 500 in the fields of personal injury and professional discipline and regulatory law (including police law). She is described as “bright and incisive,” demonstrating “a maturity beyond her call”. Laura is “fast developing a substantial reputation for her work, "a savvy and confident performer who is always well prepared – she is a star of the future".
Laura is a member of the Attorney General's C Panel of Counsel (Civil) and is currently instructed by the Ministry of Defence in the Baha Mousa Public Inquiry (led). She is regularly instructed in the High Court, has appeared in the Court of Appeal and as junior counsel in the House of Lords. She is experienced in jury, tribunal, inquest (especially clinical negligence and deaths in custody) and appellate advocacy. Laura was appointed one of four judicial assistants to the Law Lords in 2003-2004 primarily working with Lord Steyn and prior to pupillage interned in Miami representing defendants facing the death penalty.
Laura is a graduate of Oxford University and was awarded scholarships by Gray's Inn as a student. She is authorised to accept instructions under the Public Access Scheme.
Laura was shortlisted for the Barrister of the Year Award in the Legal & Medical Personal Injury Awards 2008.
