Julian predominantly acts in high value personal injury and clinical negligence cases for both claimants and defendants, as well as civil claims against the police. 

He is listed as a leading junior in the Personal Injury section of the current edition of The Legal 500 in which he is described by clients as "reliable, consistent and unflappable in a crisis".  

He acted for the defendant in the leading personal injury case of Painting v University of Oxford which concerned a costs order against an exaggerating but successful claimant. More recently he has been instructed in a number of Human Rights Act cases including the high profile Van Colle case regarding the protection of witnesses and the right to life. 

Julian also acts in health and safety at work cases and libel actions.
